A-Teens biography
For the members of Sweden's A*Teens, ABBA is a national legacy. It's no exaggeration calling the famed pop group, who formed in 1975, the Swedish equivalent of the Beatles. Even though ABBA disbanded before the members of A*Teens were born, the music was still part of the fabric of their lives. But can the A*Teens duplicate ABBA's phenomenal success? They've already begun. In 1975, ABBA's first single hit "Mamma Mia" went to Number One on the European charts. 25 years later, A*Teen accomplished the same feat with the same song! The group, Marie Serneholt, Sara Lumholdt, Dhani Lennevald and Amit Paul began working on their debut CD "The ABBA Generation" in November 1998. They and their producers picked twelve songs and when the group wasn't performing or going to school, they worked on those songs. It wasn't always easy. "The melodies are often obvious because we more or less grew up with them," says Dhani. "But when you're in the studio you discover how incredibly complicated and well written their music is. It's just fantastic." "It's a lot of fun singing and dancing to ABBA's songs," adds Marie. "To mix contemporary music styles with ABBA's fantastic material are exciting. We look to A*Teens as a tribute to ABBA." After, possibly during the tour with Aaron, they began recording songs for their new album. Their first single "Can't Help Falling In Love" which was an Elvis re-make and was included in teh movie "Lilo & Stitch". It was an instant hit! The A*teens then began promoting teh single as well as the new cd and even had time to record a verison of "School's Out" with Alice Cooper. They also released a song for The Princess Diaries SDTK called, "Heartbreak Lullaby". It didn't do to well in teh states, but was asmash over seas. After months and months of promotion, on June 18, 2002, their new album " Pop 'Til You Drop" was realeased. It sold millions in the first weeks. They released a new hit about a month after the album released, it was called "Floorfiller". Which is a great party song. The new album has only two re-makes on it, but all in all the album has songs perfect for teenagers to relate too. Their 3rd album surely shows how far they have come vocally and physically as well as meantally. They show how grwon up they really are! A*teens also embarked on a headlining tour in summer of 2002, which sold many tickets at the box office. The A*teens are one of the best bands out there! They have everything, looks, voices, and the right mentalitly to go far in music. Can't wait to see what they have in store next, maybe acting?
